Professional Development (PD) Training Week in the Academic Year 2024 – 2025
With faith, happiness, determination, and excellent training, the Sydney International School System (SISS) teachers are ready for the new academic year 2024 – 2025.
Continuing the second academic year of providing a happy education with the New South Wales program, the SISS community promises to create beautiful memories together under the beloved school and gain many impressive achievements, in harmony with this academic year’s theme “Wellness Blossoms Where Innovation Leads”.
Embodying that spirit, the SISS teachers participated in the Professional Development (PD) Training Week. Apart from optimizing teaching methods, improving professional skills, and updating new academic directions for this year, they also participated in training on using interactive boards, iPad applications, and LMS in teaching. That also reaffirms SISS’s greatest desire to integrate technology to provide modern learning experiences for our students.
To further improve the efficiency of lesson planning while meeting the standards of international education programs, teachers, especially foreign teachers, participated in specialized training on The Walker Learning. This is one of the primary teaching methods of SISS, encouraging students to learn and explore by observing, experimenting, and developing ideas, while accessing a dynamic, practical, and motivating learning environment. The method aims to achieve 5 basic student outcomes: Emotional, Social, Language, Cognitive, and Physical Development.
Additionally, teachers acquired valuable knowledge in first aid and child protection. Recognizing that teachers are not only educators who impart knowledge but also guardians who protect students in all possible situations. This training affirms SISS’s commitment to building a healthy and safe learning environment that supports optimal student development.
Not only that, following the series of activities during the PD Training Week was an exciting team building session for all teachers. Here, teachers participated in a variety of challenges from a vibrant dance competition, to intellectual and strategic games, and even explosive physical activities. To win those challenges, teachers needed to give their best effort and learn to coordinate smoothly with their teammates. The team-building session not only fostered closer bonds among teachers but also provided an opportunity to practice and reinforce the core values of a happy school that SISS is cultivating every day.
