Spreading Spirit of Sharing with Community Through Peace Day and Piggy Bank Fundraising Campaign
The Peace Day event and Piggy Bank Fundraising Campaign provided students with opportunities to embrace meaningful messages and contribute to community service projects.
Peace Day 2024
On September 20, the SISS campus was adorned in shades of blue as Jaguars and teachers wore blue shirts to school in celebration of Peace Day.
As one of the important Spirit Days in the SISS community, Peace Day 2024, with the theme “Piece of SISS: Peace in Heart,” aimed to raise awareness of world peace, spreading humanitarian values of love and compassion.
These meaningful messages were integrated into learning content and experiential activities throughout the event, including decorating bulletin boards, designing banners, and assembling white dove models.
In addition, the School used the funds raised from the students’ blue shirt activity to contribute to the national fund to support the disaster relief efforts in areas affected by Typhoon Yagi.
Let’s look back on the September Spirit Day of SISS in this video:
Piggy Bank Campaign
Also in September, SISS launched the annual Piggy Bank Campaign, encouraging students to contribute to the Community Fund “Build A Better Tomorrow” for humanitarian projects as part of the main project “Yen Bai, For A Brighter Tomorrow”.
During the campaign’s launch day, Jaguars from different grade levels learned about community projects that have been implemented and are being carried out in disadvantaged areas of Yen Bai province, thanks to the contributions of many generations of SISS students.
Learning about meaningful community projects inspired Jaguars to nurture good qualities each day and eagerly participate in love-sharing activities.
The Piggy Bank Campaign will run throughout the first semester of the academic year 2024 – 2025. Parents can accompany students in this campaign, helping them better understand the spirit of frugality, develop compassion, and learn to help and care for other people.
On the Closing Day of Semester 1, the Homerun Teacher and the class will “harvest” the piggy banks, record the funds raised, and contribute to the Community Fund as planned.
Witnessing the positive response of Jaguars to humanitarian activities and practical campaigns, the Board of Principals and teachers of Sydney International School System feel extremely proud to accompany generations of students who embody empathy, understanding, and a genuine desire to share happiness with others.
